Leaders & Achievers - Nashville 2013

Posted by Jamie Holland on July 8, 2013

As promised, I wanted to share with you some of the exciting details of the Comcast Leaders & Achievers Scholarship Program event I recently attended in Nashville.

Held on June 20th, 2013 at the Tennessee State Capitol, the event celebrated the achievements of the best and brightest high-school seniors in our Nashville community.  Comcast recognized 22 students in Middle Tennessee, and awarded them each with $1,000 scholarships.  To everyone's surprise, one lucky student received a $5,000 scholarship and another received a brand new iPad.  Since its founding in 2001, the Comcast Leaders & Achievers Scholarship Program has awarded students across our nation with over $19 million!  ($1,000? $5,000? $19 million? Free laptops and iPads? I never thought I'd say this... but why can't I still be in high school? Ok, back to the details...)

Several prominent community figures and organizations were in attendance including: former FCC Commissioner Deborah Tate, Rep. Brenda Gilmore, Secretary of State Tre Hargett, United Way, Teach for America, and The Pencil Foundation.

Here are some pictures I took of the speakers & students as they accepted their scholarships & shared their college plans with us all:
